A little bit about us

Rutland Point Bistro is the story of Paul and Daniela, two people from very different backgrounds who found themselves building a life together in Rutland, and then decided to add a bistro to the mix.

Originally from South Africa, Paul brings his own influences and experiences to Rutland Point, while Daniela brings hers. With four children between them, theirs was always going to be a family venture, and that family has now grown into the business too.

Paul's brother, Braden, has joined Rutland Point full time and is an important part of both the day-to-day running of the bistro and life behind the scenes.

The three have been through a great deal together and jokingly call themselves the "Three Musketeers". They live together, work together and are building Rutland Point Bistro together, each bringing their own personality, energy and commitment to what they are creating.

Our Story

When Paul and Daniela took on Rutland Point in 2026, they saw the opportunity to create something more personal: an independent bistro that people would genuinely want to return to.

The idea was never to make it overly formal or complicated. They wanted good food, cooked with care; friendly, attentive service; and the sort of atmosphere where stopping for coffee can turn into lunch, dinner does not need a special occasion, and regular customers quickly start to feel like part of the place.

That approach has shaped Rutland Point Bistro from the beginning.

The menus are built around generous, approachable food, from breakfast and coffee through to lunch, cakes and evening dishes. The emphasis is on quality ingredients, proper cooking and food that people actually want to eat.

There is room for familiar favourites as well as new ideas, with menus changing and developing as the bistro does. What matters most to Paul and Daniela is that it is done well and served with genuine hospitality.

Part of Rutland

Sitting just outside Morcott, with the Rutland countryside around it, the bistro is intended to be as useful to local people as it is welcoming to visitors.

That means being somewhere for breakfast with friends, a quick coffee, a long lunch, dinner, a drink, a celebration or one of the regular events taking place throughout the year.

Community has become an important part of Rutland Point too, with activities and gatherings giving people another reason to come together, from live music and special evenings to the bistro's new weekly book club.

Above all, Paul and Daniela want Rutland Point to feel relaxed, friendly and straightforward: somewhere you are always pleased you stopped.

And, hopefully, somewhere you will want to come back to.
